Jointly Modeling Male and Female Labor Participation and Unemployment

چکیده
The COVID-19 pandemic resulted in the most abrupt changes U.S. labor force participation and unemployment since Second World War, with different consequences for men women. This paper models market to help interpret pandemic’s effects. After replicating extending Emerson’s (2011) model of market, we formulate a joint male female rates 1980–2019 use it forecast into understand consequences. Gender-specific differences were particularly large at outset; lower persists.
